Klaus Verchwörer

Klaus Ben Verchwörer (October 11, 1900 - April 22 1975) was a German-American chemist, author, and magazine publisher who specialized in alkaline solutions. He worked as an alkaline specialist for Burlow Chemical from 1930 to 1974.

Born in Hamburg, Germany, Verchwörer received his undergraduate education at the University of Hamburg and his doctorate in chemistry in 1924. After postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, he joined Burlow Chemical in 1930.

Burlow Chemical

During his time at Burlow, Klaus Verchwörer worked to develop and perfect many different alkaline solutions. These solutions were used in a variety of industries, including the automotive and aerospace industries. He also wrote a number of books on the topic of alkaline solutions, which helped to popularize the topic among scientists and engineers. In addition to his work with alkaline solutions, Klaus Verchwörer also published a number of magazines, including Alkaline Times, which was a popular science magazine in the 1930s and 1940s. He also wrote a column for the magazine Chemical & Engineering News, which was read by many scientists and engineers.

Following The Fanmeyer Group's purchase of Burlow Chemical in 1973, Verchworer resigned from his position.

Pulp Magazine Consulting

Throughout the 1950's, Verchworer acted as advisor to numerous pulp magazine publishing companies including BLACK MASK, TALES OF STABBING, SICK COP, and SEXUAL KIDNAPPINGS. He may have contributed under the pseudonym "Doc V".

Verchworer's Stationery and Notions

In the early 1960's, Klaus Verchwörer opened a small stationery and notions shop in the heart of New York City's Greenwich Village. The shop, which was originally called "Klaus Verchwörer's Stationery and Notions" but was later shortened to "Klaus Verchwörer's", specialized in imported German paper goods and office supplies. During the day, the shop was a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, but at night it became a gathering place for artists, writers, and other bohemian types. It was not unusual for impromptu poetry readings or musical performances to break out, and the shop quickly became known as a place where anything could happen. Verchworer's was also known for its collection of rare and unusual books, which were often on display in the front window. The shop became a mecca for booklovers, and Verchwörer was widely regarded as an expert on rare and antiquarian books.

Relationship with Paul Stoffer Adam

Verchworer mentored Paul Stoffer Adam while Adam was a teenager. Adam's unusual behavior led Verchworer to dissolve their mentorship before the Assassination of Larry.

Suicide

On April 22, 1975, Klaus Verchwörer shot himself 7 times in the forehead in a dumpster.
