== Rejection of Severely Normal Mentation ==
Realmers pride themselves in rejecting what co-founder Doug Bleichner has coined "[[Severely Normal Mentation]]" or [[Severely Normal Mentation|SNM]], which are "thought patterns common to severely normal people." A person suffering with SNM uses various common, usually trending words, phrases and patterns of thought in their day to day social niceties. Bleichner believes that SNM has traditionally manifested most powerfully in generational patterns of humor.
Bleichner has stated that "...humor which has been informed by large scale intersections of severely normal sensibilities and thought patters is the key manifestation of severely normal individuals imprint on culture. The humor presented to us by this culmination of millions of SNM sufferers is the most highly condensed and viewable form of SNM, and so it is plainly available for study and critique. Humor is the point at which the contact between the severely normal and the Realmer is able to take place."
Realmers reject SNM and embrace a new type of thinking, one that involves drawing from core human emotions that are inherently unique to each individual. In this way, being a Realmer means embracing ones own unique personality and "thought profile," while finding a way to share and convey one's own inner thoughts and feelings with the larger Realmer community.
