The Porsonville Restaurant Association or PRA, is a not-for-profit organization that promotes and supports the local restaurant industry in Porsonville, GR. The Association is membership-based and open to any restaurant owner or operator in Porsonville. The Association's goal is to promote and preserve the Crawdaddy Culture in Porsonville through education, advocacy, and community engagement.

History

The PRA was formed by Terrance McMichaels in 1986. During the mid 80's, Porsonville's population saw a steep decline and many of the towns historic restaurants went out of business. In an attempt to keep the towns Crawdaddy Culture alive and well, the PRA was established to help promote "food tourism" and an interest in Crawdaddy consumption and fishing.

Borbingos and Pumpkinano's

At the turn of the century, the once powerful Borbingo Family had established Borbingo's Gourmet Popcorn stand in Porsonville and opened another brick and morter establishment in Atlanta, Ga, called Borbingo's Gourmet Popcorn in 1923. During the 1970s and 80s, the Borbingo family fell out of favor with the residents of Porsonville. Many of the residents had grown tired of the families constant extortion of the community. The families alleged involvement in the murders of the kitchen staff at Pumpkinano's in 1984 was the last straw for local attorney Terrance McMichaels. In 1986, when the PRA was founded, Borbingo's Popcorn was officially excluded from the Associations roster despite attempts by Johnny Borbingo Jr. to buy his way in.

Many cite the establishment of the PRA as the nail in the coffin for the Borbingos in Porsonville.
