Key Realmer

A Key Realmer is a Realmer who is key. To be key is to be extremely or crucially important.[1] As such, key realmers are realmers who are extremely or crucially important. Naturally, some read into this conclusion an elitist stance that not all realmers are important; this is wrong because all realmers are important. Key realmers are simply the most visibly engaged and committed realmers as generally recognized by the community and Skeleton Realm creators Sam and Doug.

Etymology

The Old English word for "key" was "cǣg," which was derived from the Proto-Germanic word "kaigaz." The Proto-Germanic root "kaigaz" is thought to have originally meant "a peg or wedge," which later evolved to mean "a tool used to open or close something." The word "key" has also been used in a number of compound words, such as "keyhole," "keystone," and "keyboard," all of which relate to the original meaning of "key" as a tool for opening or unlocking something.

Usage as "crucial" is thought to have originated from the idea of a key being necessary to unlock or access something important, such as a door or a treasure chest. The metaphorical usage of "key" is found in many English idioms and expressions, such as "key to success," "key player," and "key ingredient," all of which emphasize the importance of a particular element in achieving a desired outcome.

Today, the word "key" has taken on new meanings and associations, such as in the context of encryption and computer security. The idea of a "key" as a tool for unlocking or accessing something has been extended to the digital realm, where encryption keys are used to protect sensitive information and prevent unauthorized access from hackers.

The word "key" was first joined with the word "Realmer" by Doug on episode 32[2] of Skeleton Realm LIVE! while referring famous Realmer Liv.eee.
